The Expo District was established in 2001, and is another competitively disadvantaged border area, whose 200 acres remain mostly open land. Proponents of the Expo District have plans for small industrial, manufacturing and commercial development. The Expo District plan will terminate in 2021. The Post Falls URA assisted in the extension of public utilities and the construction of public streets and sidewalks for this development. The improvements have stimulated the development and construction of a large residential development (single family homes) which has been completed and fully developed, and the development of several light industrial buildings providing a total of 43 service and manufacturing jobs. Additional development planned for the District includes light industrial, distribution, retail, office and other commercial development. All public improvements made to date have been dedicated to the City of Post Falls. The Agency worked with the proponent to arrange the donation of a five acre site for a new fire station (completed and staffed). Additional improvements include improvements to Pleasant View Road and Seltice Way, additional access roads and support infrastructure, and additional traffic control.
